Michael R. Hradecky, Principal

As a Landscape Architect with over 25 years experience in landscape design, construction and maintenance of residential, commercial and public projects, Michael Hradecky believes in having a sensitive approach to the architecture, site and culture of each project. His background and experience in landscape contracting and horticulture is extensive, allowing him to project accurate cost estimates and develop landscape designs which are truly interdisciplinary. He uses metaphor to capture the essence of the site and the buildings and views landscape as an opportunity to extend the intentions of the architecture into the site. His attention to detail, emphasis on hardscape, artwork, walls, creative grading and lighting extend and amplify the meaning of the architecture. Shaded and colored by the nuances of thoughtfully selected and boldly massed planting, this powerful ordering creates experiential meaning and spatial definition in his landscape work.

As President of Alpine Landscape, Inc., Michael Hradecky participates in all stages of project development, from design and drawing through project management, and construction administration all the way through long term landscape maintenance. Prior to establishing Alpine Landscape, Inc., from 1985 - 1989. he was the Landscape Architect and chief estimator of Fiske Landscaping, Inc., a multiple award winning design / build firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area specializing in custom residential and estate projects. In the early 1980’s Michael Hradecky was Vice President of sales for James G. Gold, Inc., another award winning firm from the Bay Area focusing on custom residential landscape development in the Blackhawk, Danville and Alamo communities.

Michael Hradecky prepared all of the detail drawings for the book CALIFORNIA LANDSCAPE STANDARDS, published in 1989, which is well respected in the landscape industry. This book is an excellent reference manual providing information on every aspect of landscape construction. In 1992 and 1993, he instructed students in Landscape Planning and Design at Butte Community College , exposing students to all phases of the landscape design process.
